Move Women in Red Dresses and White Hats
Pretty Woman launched Julia Roberts into stardom! It is a fairy tale story about a prostitute and a businessman, two people from entirely different worlds who find something that can point them in the same direction. Richard Gere is Edward Lewis, an uncompromising businessman whose specialty is taking over companies and splitting and reselling them. As part of his latest assignment, he travels to Los Angeles and ends up accidentally meeting the young and beautiful Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts), who he likes very quickly and invites her to spend the whole week together.
The chemistry between Edward and Vivian is evident after the first night of offering them to reconsider their current business collaboration. But, other than the love story between main characters, this movie is also known for famous "shopping on Rodeo Drive" scenes, and we would totally wear some of Vivian's outfit today.
10 The Little Black Dress
Vivian wore this classic black dress during an important dinner with Edwards's potential clients. The dress is just above the knee, with off-the-shoulder short sleeves, and gorgeous lace. Pure elegance and timeless beauty, this dress is a "must-have" for every lady. When Edward first sees Vivian in this lovely cocktail dress, it is evident that he has been charmed. The dress is classy and elegant, and at the same time, sexy and attractive — an absolute winner for semi-formal dinner or a girl's night out.
9 Yellow Pants And Vintage-Looking Cardigan
One of the cutest montages in the movie is Vivian's shopping experience on Rodeo Drive. She tried out a lot of different outfits, enjoying little "revenge" shopping after she was laughed out of one of the fancy boutiques. We don't get to see a lot of this outfit, but in the "try-out" scene, it is love at first sight. Lovely yellow pants and vintage-looking cardigan represent statement pieces that would make a cool outfit in 2020, as well.
8 The Famous Red Gown
The true "Cinderella moment" in the movie happened when Vivian appeared in an elegant red gown, ready for the opera night. This luxury look was completed with the $250,000 ruby-studded necklace that Edward borrowed for that occasion.
Talented Marilyn Vance designed the dress this way, although the studio wanted a simpler, black dress. Luckily, they accepted this red beauty, which is now a piece of movie history. The moment Vivian appeared in this dress was the moment where she starts to open up to Edward, and he starts falling for her.
7 White Robe
Ok, strictly speaking, robes are not outfits, but Vivian wearing this is still a pretty memorable moment in the movies. After they spent the first night together, Edward is off to do some business in the morning, leaving Vivian exploring the luxury penthouse Edward is stying in. Her loose red curls and comfortable white robe are a perfect outfit for relaxing on Sunday morning inside your home.
6 The Shorts Suit
In the afternoon, when she was meeting Kit de Luca, Vivian decided to go with these orange shorts and blazer, and classic white shirt. She looked so elegant but simple, almost like a businesswoman at a casual meeting, especially when she has paired it with cool shades. This outfit was actually Vivian's go-to everyday outfit because we saw her wear it a couple of times in the movie. She was in this suit when she said goodbye to Edward and drove in a car towards her home.
5 Cover Up Outfit
Vivian's red-light district revealing dress gets a whole new appearance when it is paired with Edward's white shirt, which she tied in a knot around her waist and classic heels, instead of leather over-the-knee boots.
We can only see the blue skirt part of the dress that suddenly doesn't look so provocative. Yes, maybe it is a mini skirt, but combined with this oversized shirt, and casual, loose hairstyle, actually looks really cute.
4 The "Big Mistake" Dress
When Vivian went to buy herself some beautiful clothing, she was turned away from a luxury store by a couple of rude salespeople. When she told Edward about the incident, he made sure that she got the proper treatment next time she goes shopping. After Vivian finished her shopping spree, she walked in that first store, looking absolutely stunning in an elegant white dress and a big hat. With hands full of shopping bags, making one of the most iconic lines in the movie: "You work on commission, right? Big mistake! Big! Huge!"
3 The Original Vivian
When we first saw Vivian as a prostitute, she wore a small, provocative white-blue dress and over-knee, black leather boots. Even though the dress itself is maybe not that wearable, combined with that long red jacket and a fashionable hat actually looks pretty good. When she steps inside a hotel with a good reputation, Edward covers her with his long, classic trench coat. Miniskirt, trench coat, and that cute, black hat makes a quite good outfit.
2 Timeless Blazer, White T-Shirt, And Blue Jeans
At the end of the movie, Vivian decides to move to San Franciso, and for that, she chooses an everyday and straightforward, but lovely, outfit. White t-shirt and blue jeans are classic, especially combined with a long navy blazer. In one of the most romantic scenes in the whole movie (Edward coming for her and climbing the fire-escape stairs, even though he is afraid of heights), Vivian looks so simple, and casual, and yet so stunning.
1 Derby Polka Dot Dress
One of the most beautiful and elegant outfits in this movie is definitely this brown polka dot dress, with a matching hat and white shoes and gloves. When Vivian and Edward went to see derby with his lawyer, and business associates, she showed up looking stunning in this elegant, '40s inspired outfit. That was the first time Edward introduces Vivian to those people, and nobody could take their eyes off her.
